Our Prophet - may Allah praise and send him peace- has said:
"Actions are only by intentions, and every person will get the reward according to the intention..."
( Bukhari and Muslim )
" There is nothing better than seeking knowledge for the one who has a sincere intention"
Imam Ahmed
- may Allah have mercy on him-
Sincerity in Seeking Knowledge
Seeking Islamic knowledge only for the sake of Allah, the Greatest, so we can worship Him with Ihsaan; as though we see Him. Even though, we cannot see Him in this life, He certainly sees us.
Our Prophet - may Allah praise and send him peace - has said:
" Whoever takes a path seeking knowledge, Allah will make easy for them a path from the paths of Jannah. The angels lower their wings for the one seeking knowledge out of happiness for what they are doing..."
(Ahmed, Saheeh Al Jaami 5/203)
Sincerity and Knowledge lead to correct belief, good speech, and righteous actions.
"Studying the Hadith when young is like engraving it on a rock" Al Hasan - may Allah have mercy on him-
I see this with one of my students
- may Allah make him from the scholars of Islam-
Who asks forgiveness for the scholar?
Our Prophet -may Allah praise and send him peace- has informed us:
" ...Certainly, everything that is in the heavens, earth, and the fish in the depth of the water ask forgiveness for the scholar... "
Imagine, the angels asking forgiveness for you!
( Saheeh Al Jaami ' 5/203).
Sincerity leads to knowledge.
Sincerity and knowledge lead to good deeds.
Sincerity, knowledge, and good deeds lead to increase of Emaan.
The higher the Emaan, the better and happier lives we live.
Allah, the Greatest, says:
" Those who struggle for our sake, We will guide them to Our path and certainly Allah is with the Muhsineen "
( Surah Ankaboot 69).
" I did not treat anything that was more difficult upon me than my intention " Sufyaan Ath-Thawree - may Allah have mercy on him-
Do not underestimate yourself...
" O student of Islamic knowledge, me, you, Shaykh Al Islam, Bukhari, and Ibn Hajr, we are all included in the saying of Allah, the Most High:
' Allah has brought you out from the wombs of your mothers while you did not know anything, and gave you hearing, sight, and hearts so perhaps you will be thankful' (An-Nahl 78).
Abdulazeez As-Sadhaan
( Ma'aalim fee Tareeq Talab Al Ilm p. 36).
" 5000 or more would attend Imam Ahmed's lessons; about 500 would take notes and the rest would learn from him good manners"
Adh-Dhahabee (Siyar 11/316)- may Allah have mercy on them-
The best way to remember knowledge is to act upon it, teach it, and avoid sins.
Our Prophet
- may Allah praise and send him peace-
has said:
" Whoever Allah wants good for, He gives them understanding of the religion"
(Bukhari and Muslim)
Knowledge is attained by Studying
One of the Greatest blessings Allah has blessed the Muslims and has preserved His religion with...
" I heard some of the righteous say:
" The chains of Narrators are the lineage of the books"
Ibn Hajr - may Allah have mercy on him-( Al Fat'h 1/5).
May Allah make us from His sincere worshippers and protect us from hypocricy...
Ibn Taymiyah- may Allah have mercy on him- says:
"...some people believe in the Messenger generally, and when some events happen, they do not believe in him. Thus, they become hypocrites. Such as a group who became hypocrites when the direction of the Qiblah became the Ka'bah and a group became hypocrites when the Muslims lost the battle of 'Uhud, etc. For this reason Allah says about the hypocrites in the Qur'an that certainly they believed then they disbelieved..."
( Majmoo al Fataawa 13/53).
Sha'bee was asked:
How did you acquire all this knowledge?
He replied:
" With high ambitions, by traveling to places, with the donkey's patience, and attending early like a crow "
-may Allah have mercy on him-
("Traveling to Acquire the Hadith" 196).
Islamic knowledge may be heavy and challenging in this life; we need to be patient in seeking it.
However, it will also be heavy on the scales of good deeds on the Day of Judgement if the intention is sincere.
It will also make this life easier for the believer by filling the heart with Imaan, happiness, patience, gratitude, and much more.
Seeking Islamic knowledge is an act of worship.
" Chapter: Knowledge should precede speech and action "
Imam Bukhari - may Allah have mercy on him-
If speaking and doing deeds are not based on knowledge, they may cause more harm than bring about benefit.
Knowledge is a must, so we are from the successful ones and not from the losers in the sight of Allah, the Greatest...
Surah Al Asr
In the Name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
By time,
Certainly, people will be in a loss,
Except those who believe, do good deeds, advise one another with the truth, and advise one another with patience ".
We need knowledge to know what Allah wants us to believe in, which deeds are good so we can do more of and which deeds are bad so we can avoid, we need to study Islam so we can practice it ourselves and advise the people with the truth, and we need to know the types of patience so we can try to be from amongst the patient ones and advise the people likewise.
May Allah make us from the successful ones and protect us from being from the losers.
Allah, the Greatest, says:
" Allah is a Witness that there is no god worthy of worship except Him—and so are the angels and people of knowledge. He is the Maintainer of justice. There is no god worthy of worship except Him—the Almighty, All-Wise " (Quran 3:18).
Benefits from the saying of
Allah, the Greatest...
" Allah is a Witness that there is no god worthy of worship except Him—and so are the angels and people of knowledge... "
(Quran 3:18)
from the amazing book of the great scholar of Islam Ibn Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him, called:
" The Key to the Home of Happiness "
" Allah makes the scholars a witness for the best matter that one can be a witness for and that is His Tawheed- His Oneness"
("The Key to the Home of Happiness" 1/131).
" Firstly, Allah makes [the scholars] a witness, and none other than them from the people. Secondly, Allah mentions their witnessing along with His witnessing. Thirdly, He mentions their witnessing along with the witnessing of the Angels"
(" The Key to the Home of Happiness " 1/131).
From the benefits Ibn Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him- mentions from the verse:
" Forthly, He praises [the scholars] and affirms their trustworthiness, since Allah does not have one of His creations as a witness for Him except those that are trustworthy "
( " The Key to the Home of Happiness " 1/131).
Ibn Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him- mentions the beautiful words of our Prophet - may Allah praise and send him peace -
“This knowledge will be carried by the trustworthy ones of every generation. They will expel from it the alteration made by those going beyond bounds; the false claims of the liars and the false interpretations of the ignorant ones ”
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/131 )
Ibn Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him- continues:
" Fifthly: [Allah] has described them with 'the people of knowledge', and this shows that they have specialized in it, they are its people and companions; they are not fake "
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/132).
"Six: [ Allah ] bears witness Himself - and He is the greatest witness-, then the best of the creations - the angels and the scholars from His worshippers-; this is sufficient as a virtue and honor for them ".
They all bear witness that there is no one and nothing that should be worshipped except Allah.
Ibn Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him- (The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/132).
Ibn Qayyim's 7th point-may Allah have mercy on him-
" [Allah] uses the [scholars] as a witness for the most noble and the greatest matter to bear witness for; that is the testemony that noone and nothing should be worshipped except Him. The One Who is the Greatest uses as a witness for a great matter only the best of the creations and the most noble of them"
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/132).
" Certainly [ Allah ], the Most Perfect, made [ the scholars' ] witness a proof against those those who reject Him. Hence, they are acting as His proofs, signs, and evidences proving His Oneness "
Ibn Qayyim -may Allah have mercy on him-
( "The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/133).
" Allah has only used one verb to bear witness Himself, the angels, and [ the scholars ]. He did not use a conjunction with another verb for their witness other than the one He used for Himself. This shows the strong connection between their witness and His witness. It is as if He, the Most Perfect, bears witness for His Oneness through their tongue, and He made them pronounce this bearing of witness. So, He bears witness for Himself to establish, pronounce, and teach. While [ the scholars ] bear witness to it with affirmation, acknowledgement, truthfulness, and Emaan " .
Ibn Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him-
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/131).
" Certainly Allah has negated the similarity between [ the scholars ] and other than them, just as He has negated the similarity between the inhabitants of Paradise and the inhabitants of the Fire.
Allah says: " Say, 'Are those who know equal to those who do not know' " ( Az-Zumar 9). Allah also says: " The residents of the Fire are not equal to the residents of Paradise " (Al Hashr 20).
This shows the great virtue and status of the scholars.
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/133).
" Allah, the most Perfect, has put the ignorant people at the level of those who are blind and can not see.
Allah says: ' Are those who know that what has been revealed to you from your Lord is the truth, the same as those who are blind ?! It is only the intelligent ones who will be mindful ' (13:19).
Thus, either a person of knowledge or blind. Allah has certainly described the ignorant people that they are deaf, dumb, and blind in more than one place in His book "
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/134).
Ignorance makes a person blind to that which benefits them in this life and forever in the next life.
" [ Allah ], the Most Perfect, has said about the people of knowledge that they consider what was revealed to him from his Lord to be true. He used this as a praise for them and mentioned them as witnesses.
He says: ' Those who were given knowledge consider that which was revealed to you from your Lord to be the truth ' (34:6).
Ibn Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him-
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/134 )
" Certainly [ Allah ], the Most Perfect, has ordered us to ask [ the people of knowledge] and to return to their statements...
He says: 'And We have not sent before you except men whom We have revealed to, so ask the people of dhikr, if you do not know (An-Nahl 43).
The people of dhikr are the people who have knowledge of that which was revealed to the prophets "
Ibn Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him-
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/134).
" Certainly He, the Most Perfect, has ordered His prophet to ask Him to increase his knowledge.
Allah says: ' Exalted is Allah, the True King! Do not hasten with reciting the Qur'an before its revelation to you is complete, and say: 'Lord! Increase me in knowledge'
(20:114).
This is sufficient as a virtue for knowledge; He has ordered His prophet to ask Him to increase it ".
Ibn Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him-
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/136).
Ibn Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him- says:
" Certainly He, the Most Perfect, has mentioned the high ranks of the people of knowledge.
He says:
'O you who believe! When you are told to make room in gatherings, then do so. Allah will make room for you. And if you are told to rise, then do so. Allah will elevate those of you who believe and those gifted with knowledge in rank. And Allah is All-Aware of what you do ' (58:11).
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/136).
Ibn Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him- says:
" He, the Most Perfect, has told us that certainly [ the people of knowledge] are the people who are truly in awe of Him; rather, they are the only ones from amongst the people described with that.
Allah says:
"...It is only those who have knowledge who are truly in awe of Him. Allah is certainly Almighty, All-Forgiving"
(35:28).
( The Keys to the Home of Happiness 1/137 ).
Ibn Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him - says:
" He, the Most Perfect, has informed us that the people of knowledge are the only ones who understand and benefit from the parables He sets forth for His slaves - showing them the authenticity of that which He has informed of.
Allah says:
' These are the parables We set forth for the people, but none will understand them except the people of knowledge '
(29:43).
Some of the early scholars would cry when they came across a parable they did not understand and they would say: ' I am not from the people of knowledge ' .
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/138 ).
" He, the Most Perfect, has mentioned the debate between Ibrahim and his father along with his people. He defeated them with proof, so He informs us that He has granted him that and raised his rank with knowledge of the proof.
He says in Surah Al An'aam, following the debate that took place :
' That is the proof we gave Ibrahim against his people. We raise in ranks whom We will. Certainly your Lord is the All Wise , the All Knowing' (6:83).
Ibn Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him- says:
" Certainly Allah, the Most Perfect, has commanded the people of knowledge to rejoice in that which He has given them, and has informed us that surely it is better than that which the people amass from wealth.
Allah says:
' Say, “In Allah’s grace and mercy let them rejoice. That is far better than whatever wealth they amass ' (10:58).
'Fadlu-LLah' has been interpreted as Emaan, and His Mercy is the Qur'an. Emaan and Qur'an are beneficial knowledge and righteous deeds. They are the guidance and the true religion. They are the best knowledge and the best deeds "
( The Keys to the Home of Happiness 1/139-140).
WISDOM
Ibn Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him- says:
" He, the Most Perfect, has said that whoever He has given knowledge, He has given them abundant good. He says:
" He gives wisdom to whom He wills, and whoever has been given wisdom, has certainly been given abundant good' (2:269).
Ibn Qutaybah and Ibn Sa'eed have said:
' Wisdom is knowing the truth and acting on it '.
It is beneficial knowledge and righteous actions"
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/140 ).
Ibn Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him- says:
" He, the Most Perfect, has mentioned His blessings and favors bestowed upon His Messenger, and has considered the best of them giving him the Book and the Wisdom and teaching him that which he did not know.
He, the Most High, says:
' Allah has revealed to you the Book and the Wisdom, and has taught you that which you did not know. Allah's favor upon you is certainly great ' (4:113).
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/140).
Ibn Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him- says:
" He, the Most Perfect, has reminded His believing worshippers of this blessing, He has ordered them to be thankful for it, and to mention Him for granting it to them.
He, the Most High says:
' Since We have sent you a messenger from among yourselves—reciting to you Our revelations, purifying you, teaching you the Book and wisdom, and teaching you what you never knew—
remember Me; I will remember you. And thank Me, and never be ungrateful ' (2:151-2).
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/140).
Ibn Al Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him- says:
" When He, the Most Perfect, wanted to show the virtue of Adam and distinguish him, He favored him and distinguished him from [ the angels] with knowledge. So, He taught him all of the names, then showed them to the angels and said: " Inform me of the names of these, if you are truthful ".
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/141-2 ).
Ibn Al Qayyim -may Allah have mercy on him- says:
" So [the angels] thought they are better than the khalifah which Allah will put on earth. Once He tested them with the knowledge which He has taught this khalifah, they admitted their lack of ability and ignorance of that which they did not know, so they said:
' You are Perfect; we do not have any knowledge except that which You have taught us. Certainly, You are the All Knowing, the All Wise '
So, at that time He made apparant to them the virtue of Adam by distinguishing him with knowledge. He said:
' O Adam, inform them of their names '
Once he informed them of their names, they recognized his virtue ".
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/142).
"Once He, the Most Perfect, informed them of Adam's virtue due to knowledge and their ignorance of that which He taught [ Adam ], He said:
' Did I not say to you that I know the unseen of the heavens and earth, and I know that which you make apparent and that which you conceal?'
Thus, Allah presented Himself to them with knowledge- His knowledge encompasses their apparent, their hidden, and the unseen of the heavens and earth. Thus, He presented Himself with the attribute of knowledge, He informed them of the virtue of His prophet and the one He has spoken directly to with knowledge, and their ignorence of that which He has given Adam from the knowledge. This is sufficient to show the noble status of knowledge"
Ibn Al Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him-
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/142).
" He, the Most Perfect, has created Adam with complete attributes which made him better than other creations, and He, the Most Perfect, willed to show the angels his virtues and noble position. He presented to them the best in him, and that is his knowledge. Thus, it shows that knowledge is the best that a person can possess and certainly his virtue and noble status is only due to knowledge.
Another example of this is what He did with His prophet Yusuf - peace be upon him...
(Coming next if Allah wills. If anyone can guess what Ibn Al Qayyim might mention please write it in the comments)".
Ibn Al Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him-
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/ 142)
" Another example of that is what Allah decreed for His prophet Yusuf - peace be upon him -, when He wished to show his virtue and status above all of the people in his time.
He showed the king and the people of Egypt his knowledge by interpreting his dream which were not able to interpret even the scholars of dream interpretation. Hence, he put him forth, established him, and put him in charge of the store-houses of the land, even though he put him in jail before that due to his handsome face and good looks.
However, when his brilliant knowledge and his sound understanding became clear to him, he released him from jail and established him on earth.
This shows that the beauty of knowledge is better and more beautiful to the people than the physical form, even if it is the most beautiful form "
Ibn Al Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him-
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/143).
Dispraise of Ignorance
Ibn Al Qayyim-may Allah have mercy on him- says:
" Allah, the Most Perfect, has certainly blamed the people of ignorance in many verses in His Book:
He, the Most High, says:
' However, most of them are ignorant'
( Al An'aam 111).
He also says:
'However, most of them do not know'
( Al An'aam 37)
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/143).
" He, the Most High, says:
' Or do you think that most of them listen or understand? They are only like cattle—or even more astray from the right way'
( Al Furqan 44).
Allah did not only compare the ignorant people to the cattle; rather, He said that they are more astray than them"
Ibn Al Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him-
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/143).
After mentioning many verses criticizing ignorance, Ibn Al Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him- says:
" All of this shows how evil ignorance is considered by [Allah]; He hates ignorance and its people. It is likewise viewed by the people. Everyone frees themselves from it, even if it is within them [ they are ignorant] "
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/ 144).
" Certainly knowledge is life and light, while ignorance is death and darkness. All evil is as a result of lack of life and light. All good is as a result of light and life"
Ibn Al Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him-
( The Key to the Home of Happiness 1/ 145).
I ask Allah, the Most Generous, Lord of the Great Throne, to protect you in this life and in
the hereafter, and to make you blessed wherever you may be. I ask Him to make you
from those who are thankful when given, patient when tested, and repentant when you
sin. Certainly, these three, are the keys to happiness!
your correct belief in Allah, the Greatest; and the righteous deeds you do
for His sake, alone. You are bound to enter your grave soon and will
continue in the ‘forever after’, only according to the deeds you perform in
this short life which can end at any time, either in a state of enjoyment, or
in a state devoid of that – may Allah protect us.
The higher that one's Emaan is, the happier one will be.
regardless of how long you live; even if you were to live for 200 years. Our time in this
world has already been set by the Creator. The timer is only ticking down
until it reaches [00:00:00]! This life is but a test to see who truly deserves to
enjoy in the eternity. Don't be sure that your end cannot come before you
graduate.
for those who attend it. This is due to the many prohibitions that are violated therein, which Allah hates, since it leads to the destruction of one's Emaan. One mustn’t forget that going to university is only a means to an end, and it mainly benefits you for just a few years in this short life,
while Emaan will benefit you FOREVER!
1. Study beneficial knowledge sincerely, for the sake Allah; to help oneself in becoming obedient to Allah, and to help His religion, the Muslims, and everyone else achieve the eternal happiness.
2. Make sure that the knowledge you are seeking is permissible knowledge, which will help you make a permissible living after you graduate; i.e. through permissible work in a permissible environment.
3. Obey Allah wherever you are. Remember that Allah is the All Seeing. He Sees even the smallest black object in the darkest of the places. He is the All Hearing; hears every single sound in the universe, at the same time, without any difficulty. He is the All-Knowing; He Knows the past and the future; and also knows of that which will never take place in the future and also what would happen, if it were to take place. Ultimately, He Knows what is best for us. Thus the intelligent one, who wants good for themselves, obeys Allah, the All Wise.
4. Be diligent in discharging religious obligations and stay away from that which Allah has prohibited. Indulging in the latter will lead to the decrease of your Emaan, and erodes the sentiments that constitute the internal setup of a faithful muslim, leading, perhaps, to the death of your heart.
5. Close the door to temptation from afar and stay away from the ambiguous.
Don’t be confident you can control yourself against shaytaan’s devious plans by even partially letting yourself get exposed to them, rather try to consciously keep away from them, by proactively taking steps to stay far away from it. Eg. Avoid walking down corridors which you know might be populated by people of the opposite gender, towards whom shaytaan can tempt you, even if that means you have to walk longer to go around, you will be rewarded for that extra effort, many times over. “Verily, you will never give up anything for the sake of Allah Almighty but that Allah will replace it with something better” (Musnad Aḥmad 22565). Avoid spaces where music could be playing. Also avoid the grey areas between what is clearly halaal and what is clearly haraam, as lingering in the boundaries, can eventually lead one to jump over to the haram side, without even realising it (Muslim 1599). Eg. Interactions of Muslim brothers and sisters, to help each other out, say, among MSA members, during meetings or social events.
6. Remember that you are in a place greatly affected by the devils, both from among jinn and people. Therefore…
7. Make sure you begin your day with the obedience of Allah; pray Fajr and after that take some time every single day to remember Allah by reciting the morning remembrance from the 'Fortress of the Muslim' . You should keep this book in your pocket and recite the different du'as throughout the day until you have memorized them. Allah, the All Capable One, has promised to help and protect you " So remember Me and I will remember you"(Qur'an 2:153).
8. Say the Du'a(s) when leaving your house. "O Allah I seek refuge with you that I misguide someone or I get misguided…" (Abu Dawood). Our noble Prophet – may Allah praise and send him peace - would not leave his house without saying this, as Umm Salamah – may Allah be pleased with her - informed us.
9. Seek refuge with Allah every time you step in the campus. Ask Him sincerely to protect you from ALL the evil which exists in it; apparent and hidden. Before every lecture you attend, every tutorial, and ideally, even before every book or course kit you open to read, ask Him to protect you from the potential evil found within it.
10. Fear the trial of the Doubts and Desires. Do not ever feel safe from misguidance. Even if your Emaan has reached high degrees, it is certainly not higher than that of Ibraheem – peace be upon him - who begged Allah "keep me and my sons far away from worshiping idols" (Qur'an 14:35). Despite being a prophet and messenger, he feared for himself and his children the clearest form of shirk: worshipping idols! So how much more shouldn’t we fear shirk, kufr, atheism, and all the other doubts, both clear and hidden, for ourselves and our children!
11. Minimize your time in the campus in order to minimize the decrease of your Emaan; be there only when you must be there.
12. Lower your gaze; do not needlessly look at other people, since most of what you will see is that which will decrease your Emaan. "Do not even come close to zina" (Quran 17:32). The goal of shaytaan is not zina (adultery), music, and other major sins, in themselves! Even though these may take a Muslim to the fire, for a specific period of time, shaytaan uses them as a means to destroy your Emaan and lead you to disbelief. If you still happen to see or hear any haram, then seek refuge with Allah from the shaytaan. You must hate with your heart all the sins you witness, even if you can't speak against it, and that is the lowest part of Emaan! Moreover, thank Allah for protecting you from that which He has tested them with: "All praise and thanks are for Allah who has protected me from that which He has afflicted you with and has favored me, over many of those whom He has created, with great favors". The Prophet – may Allah praise and send him peace - said that whoever says this "will not be afflicted by that calamity" (Tirmidhi).
13. Stay as far away as possible from the opposite gender. Sit away from them if you attend lectures and tutorials together. If you must work in groups, then work with the same gender. Study in the quiet areas, away from the other students.
14. Dress modestly in order not to attract the opposite gender or the sinners from the same gender. The brothers should wear modest pants (not body hugging/figure revealing ones), above the ankles, without imitating the disbelievers. Similarly, the sisters should wear proper Islamic clothes covering the entire body except the hands and face. Unduly beautifying yourself (clothes, brother's hair style, sisters make-up) will only attract the shaytaan to come and decrease your Emaan. Be merciful to yourself, since certainly Allah has been merciful to you!
15. Pray at the MSA (Muslim Students Association) with the Muslims whenever you are in the campus, during the obligatory prayers. Visit the masjid as much as you can.
16. Be in the company of righteous Muslims. "An individual is upon the religion (way) of one's close friend, so be careful who you take as a close friend" (Ahmad and others).
17. Set a time alone or with other righteous Muslims every day to read the Qur'an, study it, and study other obligatory knowledge. Read that which will increase your Emaan. Learn about Allah; His beautiful Names and Perfect Attributes. Read about the Life of Al Barzakh (the grave). Read about Jannah and the Fire.
18. Don't be shy to practice your religion. One of my professors asked us on the first day of class to write down everything which may prevent us from participating in the course. I wrote down everything I could remember such as working with opposite gender etc. and the professor tried to accommodate me throughout the course! Likewise, I had a test during the maghrib time in Ramadaan. I went to the professor right before the test and explained that I don't mind writing the test, but I would have to leave at sunset, to pray. He – may Allah guide him to Islam - told me that if 'I let you go during the test, I would have to send someone out with you and I don't want to do that. You can write the test another time'. " And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out and will provide for him from where he does not expect. Whoever relies upon Allah, then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a decreed extent" (Qur'an 65:2-3).
19. Work hard to free yourself from interest. Try finding a job which pays tuition reimbursement. It is only a favor from Allah, the Provider, that some brothers I know of, graduated debt free! They worked at UPS across the street from York University and UPS paid most of their tuition. Jaabir said: The Messenger of Allah – may Allah praise and send him peace - cursed (La’n) the one who consumes riba and the one who pays it, the one who writes it down and the two who witness it, and he said: they are all the same "(Muslim). La'n means being distanced from the mercy of Allah! Which shows how severe this major sin is.
20. Seek forgiveness from Allah often. Our noble Messenger – may Allah praise and send him peace - used to do so more than 100 times a day!
"Allah wants to accept your repentance, but those who follow their desires want you to digress into a great deviation. And Allah wants to lighten for you your difficulties; and people were created weak" (Qur'an 4:27-28).
May Allah protect you from all that which may lead to the decrease of your Emaan. May He, the Truth, keep you firm upon His way until your last day.
Your brother,
Granit Binaku
